Holding Forth the Word of Life - Philippians 2:16

We are Grace Baptist Church of Papillion, Nebraska. Allow us to explain further what that means.

What does it mean to be a Church?

We believe a church is made up of individuals and families who come together under the Headship of Jesus Christ and the authority of His Word.

They come together for the worship of God, for mutual care and encouragement, and to work for the advancement of God's kingdom and the evangelization of the lost. They come freely and joyfully as they seek to be pleasing to Jesus Christ and to wait for His coming in glory. The church is wonderful and essential for biblical and healthy Christian experience.

What does it mean to be a Baptist?

We are sure it means different things to different people, and that our definition will not satisfy everyone. We will simply speak to what it means to us here at Grace Baptist Church.

Baptists have a rich history and tradition. As Baptists we stand for the absolute sufficiency and authority of the Bible for everything we are to believe and how we are to live.

We believe that salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We believe that all who are joined to Christ by faith should be baptized (immersed in water) and then added to the fellowship of a local church.

We as Baptists believe in the autonomy of the local church. Although free to work with other churches or organizations, the local church is also free from any denominational hierarchy or outside influence or authority. Jesus Christ alone is Head of the Church and by His Spirit and Word He gives every church what it needs to fulfill His purpose in every generation.

These are a few of the "distinctives" that make us Baptist. For a fuller understanding of our beliefs see What We Believe
